Theresa May could be the most frightening and undemocratic thing to ever happen to peacetime Britain but what matters is retaining Jeremy Corbyn as the unelectable leader of an irrelevant Labour, say a lot irresponsible idealists.

We could worry about the devastating and irreversible consequences of events that might actually occur, or learn lessons from history, but it’s better to imagine the world is a place where no one ever had any ideas before we arrived, they say.
One said: “I’m supporting Corbyn because, as Gandhi put it, ‘Be the change that you wish to see in the world.’
“There you go. You didn’t know that, did you?”
A man said: “I’d like a realistic alternative to the Tories but there’s always UKIP and obviously real catastrophe for the whole country must come second to unattainable ideals for a few.
“I mean that’s just common sense.”
